Morinaga BF-L Dry Milk
1986,At the time of release

Morinaga Milk is a pioneer in lactoferrin

Morinaga Milk has focused on lactoferrin since the 1960s, with over half a century of research history. In 1986, Morinaga Milk's years of research culminated in the creation of "Morinaga BF-L Dry Milk," an infant formula containing lactoferrin.

  • Among infant formula powder sold in Japan, as of April 2020, according to Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd. research
  • E-Akachan contains lactoferrin (digest).

Three types of oligosaccharides

A special combination unique to Morinaga Supports Bifidobacteria,
creating an intestinal environment similar to breast-fed babies.
Increasing the types of oligosaccharides increases their ability to support Bifidobacteria.

Comparison of Bifidobacteria growth effect*3 using
infant intestinal bacterial flora model culture test*2

  • Among infant formula powder sold in Japan, as of April 2020, according to Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd. research
  • Seven types of representative infant intestinal bacteria were anaerobically cultured together to compare the effects of oligosaccharides. Among the seven types of intestinal bacteria are B. breve and B. longum, which are representative Bifidobacteria in infant intestines.
  • Comparison based on the sum of bacterial counts of Bifidobacteria B.breve and B. longum.
  • Values are examples. Results may vary depending on test conditions. Source: Adapted from "British Journal of Nutrition (2016), 116,270-278"

Bifidobacteria Important for Babies

Changes in intestinal bacterial balance with age

Source: Graph based on "Odamaki T et al. BMC Microbiol (2016)"

Infants have more Bifidobacteria compared to adults, and this is considered important during early childhood.

"Hagukumi" and "E-Akachan" contain a special combination of three types of oligosaccharides that support Bifidobacteria.

Helping a baby's remarkable growth and development

DHA & arachidonic acid

The amount of DHA in a baby's brain
increases from the fetal period (after 20 weeks)
and accumulates with brain growth until around age 2.
Hagukumi and E-Akachan
include DHA and arachidonic acid,
important for a baby's growth and development,
in the same ratio as breast milk.
